Sirens or Strobes and their role in home burglar alarm systems
According to the FBI, a burglary occurs somewhere in the United States every 15.4 seconds. Burglary rates are on the decrease, however, and it is certainly unwise to be overly concerned about becoming a victim. Likewise it is unwise to be complacent. There is so much you can do these days to secure your home that peace of mind is easy to achieve.
Home burglar alarm systems help to deter intruders and prevent crime. 74.3% of unsuccessful burglaries are attributed to the alarm system scaring away the intruder. On the other hand, the probability of a burglary at a residential site without an alarm system is 14.8%.
So the question is not whether to fit an alarm system to your home, it is which system to choose. Burglars want to get in and out of your home as quickly as possible without being noticed or caught. A loud siren and strobes that activate when they enter your home or open a door or window will attract attention, which is the last thing they want.
